In the Wikus range, raker tooth (S) is
available in constant tooth pitches of 3-32 tpi and in the variable tooth
pitches of 3-4 tpi tp 10-14 tp.i

Tooth Forms
The wide variety of tooth forms of the new WIKUS programme differ
with respect to the angle of the cutting teeth and the root.
Raker Tooth (S)
Raker tooth (S) with a rake angle of 0° is especially suitable for
cutting short-chipping materials and steels with a high carbon
content-chiefly tool steel and cast iron. This tooth form can be
universally used for workpieces with small cross-sections and
thin-walled profiles.
Hook tooth (K)
Hook tooth (K) with positive rake angle is suitable for
long-chipping, tough materials - chiefly non-ferrous metals and steels
with a carbon content <0.5%. These are: structural steels, deep
drawing steels, tempered steels, rust and acid-resistant steels and
exotic alloys. Above all, hook tooth (K) is used with large
cross-sections.
Skip tooth (L) with a rake angle of 00 is suitable for brittle
materials with a larger cross-section.
Trapezoidal tooth (T)
As a special innovation from WIKUS, we would like to present
trapezoidal tooth (T) with a widened tooth edge. This geometry features
high machining performance with high material demands. This tooth form
replaces the tooth set and is only produced for carbide tipped bandsaw
blades.
Tooth pitch (Tz)
Tooth pitch is defined as the number of teeth per inch (tpi). 1 inch
equals 25.4 mm. In the WIKUS range, a difference is made between
constant tooth pitches with uniform tooth spacing and variable tooth
pitches with differing tooth spacing within one toothing interval.
Variable tooth pitches are marked by two dimensions, e.g. 2-3 tpi. With
this, 2 tpi signifies the maximum tooth spacing and 3 tpi signifies the
minimum tooth spacing in the toothing interval.

| Types
of tooth set
By means of the tooth set, with which the teeth alternately
protrude to the left and right beyond the level of the band
body, free-cutting action
of the bandsaw blade is achieved.
|
 |
Standard tooth set
(SD) can be universally used for cutting thicknesses of more
than 5 mm with steel, casting and hard non-ferrous metals.
With constant tooth pitches, the set sequence is
left/right/straight (fig.1). With variable tooth pitches, one
tooth is unset per toothing
interval. The remaining teeth in the interval are recurrently
set left/right (fig.2)

For bandsaw blades in the tooth pitch range of 4-18 tpi,
improved surface quality is obtained group set (GS) |
With materials easy to machine, such as non-ferrous metals,
plastics and wood, a right/left tooth set (RL) is especially
effective. |
With material dimensions up to 5mm, such as sheet metal,
thin-walled pipes and profiles, we recommend wave tooth set
(WS). |
